This is a replacement Cane Creek crown race designed for forks with a 30mm crown race seat and headsets that use a 52mm lower bearing. It’s used on many straight 1-1/8" steerer setups and is interchangeable across Cane Creek headset families when the dimensions match.

If your fork crown race is damaged, corroded, or missing, this restores proper bearing alignment and smooth steering.

Key Functional Details

  • Alloy crown race for Cane Creek headsets
  • 52mm lower bearing interface
  • 30mm fork crown race seat diameter
  • Compatible across Cane Creek 110, 40, 10, and legacy S/XX series when sizes match
  • Precision machined by Cane Creek
  • Designed for straight 1-1/8" steerers with 30mm crown seats

Compatibility & Technical Notes

  • Fork crown race seat diameter must be exactly 30mm
  • Lower headset bearing must be 52mm
  • Fits many straight 1-1/8" steerer forks (not tapered 1.5" lower steerers)
  • Intended for Cane Creek headsets only — compatibility with other brands is not guaranteed
  • Requires proper crown race installation tool for correct seating

Service / Ownership Context

This crown race must be pressed squarely onto the fork crown using a crown race setting tool. Improper installation can cause bearing damage or premature wear. Replace anytime the race shows pitting, deformation, or corrosion.

Fit & Use Signals

  • Good Fit: Straight 1-1/8" steerer forks with 30mm crown seats using 52mm Cane Creek lower bearings.
  • Not A Fit: Tapered steerers, 40mm or 39.8mm crown seats, or non-Cane Creek headset systems.
Customers mix these up constantly — must confirm 30mm crown seat AND 52mm lower bearing. Does NOT fit tapered forks with 40mm crown seats. Needs to be pressed on — hammer installs ruin races. Common mistake is assuming all 1-1/8 forks use the same race. If steering feels gritty after replacement, race probably went on crooked. What fails first: aluminum surface from rusted bearings. Always clean fork crown before install. If headset is apart, inspect lower bearing too — they usually die together. Only guaranteed with Cane Creek headsets. If unsure, measure with calipers before ordering.
