This is SRAM’s Eagle 70 T-Type chain—a more affordable entry into SRAM’s Transmission ecosystem, built with the same flat-top architecture used across T-Type drivetrains.

It’s designed for modern mountain bikes running SRAM Transmission, delivering smooth shifting under load and durability approved for e-MTB use.

Key Functional Details

  • 12-speed SRAM T-Type / Transmission compatible chain
  • FlatTop profile for improved strength and shifting precision
  • Smooth-shift bottom profile for clean gear engagement
  • 126 link length for modern long-chainstay frames
  • Solid pins approved for e-MTB drivetrain loads
  • Includes SRAM PowerLock connecting link
  • Silver finish
  • Designed to integrate with all SRAM T-Type drivetrain components

Compatibility & Technical Notes

  • Compatible ONLY with SRAM Transmission / T-Type systems
  • Fits SRAM Eagle 70 / 90 / GX / X0 / XX T-Type drivetrains
  • Requires T-Type cassette and T-Type chainring
  • Approved for e-MTB use
  • NOT compatible with legacy Eagle 12-speed (GX/X01/XX1 non-T-Type)
  • NOT compatible with Shimano 12-speed
  • Requires proper chain sizing before installation

Service / Ownership Context

This is a Transmission-specific chain that relies on exact setup and sizing. It’s built to handle high torque and shifting under load, but still requires routine lubrication and early stretch monitoring to protect expensive T-Type cassettes.

Fit & Use Signals

  • Good Fit: SRAM Transmission-equipped trail, enduro, and e-MTB bikes needing a replacement T-Type chain.
  • Not A Fit: Any non-T-Type Eagle drivetrain, Shimano systems, or older 12-speed bikes.
This is Transmission only. Not “regular Eagle.” Biggest mistake customers make is assuming this fits GX Eagle or older AXS. It doesn’t. Must be full T-Type: cassette, chainring, derailleur. FlatTop profile is stronger laterally and handles motor torque better. That’s why SRAM approves it for e-MTB. 126 links matters. Most Transmission bikes need the length, but you still must size it. PowerLock is single-use. People reuse them and then wonder why chains fail. Shifts under load way better than old Eagle chains. That’s what riders notice first. Wear items: chain first, cassette second. On e-bikes, chains go fast if riders mash shifts. Complaints usually come from price or from people who bought it for the wrong drivetrain. Who this is really for: modern SRAM Transmission bikes, especially e-MTB. Who should avoid: anyone not running T-Type. Mechanic advice: confirm T-Type before selling. Size carefully. Replace early (around 0.5%) to protect the cassette. Teach riders to ease motor power during shifts — Transmission helps, but physics still applies.
