School Psych on a Bike, Ride 9
It’s been 2 weeks since my last ride, but I am glad that I worked out another bike commute today. Last week I spent 3 workdays on a school camping field trip then I was running around for the remaining 2 workdays, so no real opportunity there. Today presented itself this morning as a good biking opportunity. In true middle-school style we have a “theme” week, with today’s theme being “dress in workout clothes.” Mission accepted, and I over-achieved by picking out 2 workout outfits.
I packed up the pannier bags, regretting slightly that I brought my computer home so I get to lug it around more than completely necessary. With my stuff loaded up, I headed outside in the still-dark morning to get riding. It was completely fine this morning, but I’m going to be losing daylight as the weeks go on so that’s motivation to get more rides in soon.
Also in middle-school fashion, I enjoyed the convenience of eating a school lunch. Today was cheeseburgers with turkey bacon, and apparently the “adult” version of the meal meant that I got double-patties. I paired that with a chocolate milk, but I made a mistake in the fruit section. Sadly, the “applesauce” I chose turned out to be mango-orange-something else puree.
Also in true school-psych fashion, I concluded my day by needing to pick up testing materials from another school building. Luckily, that other school is like 2 blocks from my home, so I rode back on my usual route, with one deviation at the end. This turn might make the ride a couple blocks longer, but it avoids the steepest part of the worst hill. That was a welcome break from my normal situation of shoving my bike uphill, so I’ll gladly use this way in the future.
