Why We Focus on The Americas

Why We Focus on The Americas

Why We’re Paying More Attention to Products Made in the Americas

We can’t control where everything is made. But we can control what we prioritize. This is why Go Grava is leaning into products and partners across the Americas as trade priorities shift.

Global manufacturing didn’t end up where it is by accident. For decades, most outdoor and cycling equipment sold in the U.S. has been produced in Asia, driven by scale, cost efficiency, and established supply chains. That reality isn’t changing overnight — and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.

But priorities do change.

Why the Americas Matter More Going Forward

Over the next decade, we believe the Western Hemisphere will play a larger role in how U.S. businesses source, move, and support the products they sell. Not because it’s trendy, and not because it’s simple — but because proximity, resilience, and relationships are becoming more important than ever.

When products are made closer to where they’re sold, a few things change:

  • Supply chains shorten, which reduces delays and uncertainty.
  • Communication improves because time zones and language barriers are easier to manage.
  • Environmental impact decreases when shipping distances are reduced.
  • Relationships become real, not just transactional.

Important note: This isn’t an “everything must be made locally” argument. It’s a direction-of-travel decision: fewer fragile supply lines, more durable partnerships.

It’s Not About Purity — It’s About Direction

That doesn’t mean everything can or should be made domestically. It does mean that North, Central, and South America deserve more attention than they’ve historically received in the outdoor and cycling industries.

There are skilled builders, small manufacturers, and growing brands throughout the Americas doing thoughtful work — often at a human scale that aligns with how we want to operate.

Why Small and Medium Producers Matter

At Go Grava, we look for partners we can understand, support, and grow alongside. Small and medium producers matter because their success has a direct impact on real communities. When we can source products from the Americas, we see it as an opportunity to build something more durable — economically, environmentally, and culturally.

This is not about drawing hard lines or claiming perfection. It’s about choosing a path that we believe will matter more over time.

What We’re Committing To

  • Prioritizing products made in the Americas when it makes sense.
  • Working with builders we can actually know and support.
  • Being transparent about tradeoffs and supply chain reality.
  • Building a catalog that reflects our values and works in the real world.

Bottom Line

As global trade shifts and priorities evolve, we believe the Western Hemisphere will become increasingly important. We’re choosing to move in that direction when it makes sense — because we want the products we sell to reflect not just performance, but the kind of economy and community we want to help build.
